This innovator got selected for Phase 2!
Solution Name: FHL – Food Hinterland Lisbon
Target Challenge: Developing a tool that contributes to the sustainability analysis of the urban food systems via food streams monitoring.
We analyse food streams to transform their boundaries.

Solution Description
The Food Hinterland Lisbon project development supports all mission-aligned Iberian farmers, producers, distributors, market makers with 3R (regenerative, regional and resource-efficient) management practices by substantiating their green claims i.e. to describe, structure, document and benchmark relevant product attributes and aggregate them to food streams. At its core, our digital product passport DPP contains food product-specific or – more aggregated – a food stream-specific data sets, which are modelled and structured according to developing 3R standards and disclosure requirements of regional policy actors.
Our approach facilitates the problem of double information asymmetries (at least for the transparent part of the relevant market):
1st market failure: The market cannot effectively fulfill its coordination function with regard to efficient and resource-saving behavior.
2nd information failure: The information provided is unhelpful, often confusing or even misleading.
The key objective of our project is to increase transparency and accountability in supply chains, making it easier for consumers, regulators, sustainability analysts and other stakeholders to make informed, supported decisions about the products they produce, market, purchase and eat.
For our next design cycle and engineering cycle during the SoTecIn Factory we bring in excellent value propositions for the following range of expectable ecosystem requirements: Interoperability (technical, semantic, organisational), including data exchange protocols and formats and data processing (introduction, modification, update); unique identifiers; data carriers; links between physical product and digital representation; access rights management; data storage and data persistence; data authentication, reliability, integrity; data security for competitively sensitive information.
As data intermediary, we structurally facilitate between heterogeneous data holders and data users. We rely on co-creating data models during the design phase used for the sustainability analysis. The Food Hinterland registry will facilitate interoperability between all actors of the Food Hinterland Lisbon as a 3R agricultural ecosystem as described by the challenge owner.
