NOOSA

This innovator got selected for Phase 2!

Solution Name: MELITTA

Target Challenge: Retaining product performance and longevity in the move towards less complex, biobased, and biodegradable materials.

NOOSA™, a biobased and circular fiber that is 100% recyclable thanks to its patented recycling technology, NOOCYLE֭™.

Solution Description

Born from bio-renewable materials, NOOSA™ fiber is endlessly recyclable thanks to NOOCYCLE™, a patented chemical recycling technology. NOOSA™ fiber demonstrates the application of Polylactic Acid (PLA) in textile and its recycling, enabling a lower environmental footprint and fossil-free alternative.

NOOSA™ fiber shows intrinsic properties enhancing textile performance such as: bacteriostatic character, increased breathability, low odour retention, low-flammability and UV stability. This does not only warrant a longer lifetime to the products containing NOOSA™ but also reduces the need of additives and textile finishes.

NOOCYCLE™ is a patented chemical recycling technology, developed by NOOSA™, enabling to recycle NOOSA™ textile fiber at 100%, without deterioration and this, endlessly. NOOCYCLE™ meets the challenges of the circular economy by offering an alternative to composting for a biodegradable fiber. This recycling process is unique because it allows to separate NOOSA™ fiber from any type of component (chemicals, pigments or any material blend). This chemical but selective recycling, entitles NOOSA™ fibers to be recycled without damaging the other materials blended in the textiles, offering a solution to textile waste at post-industrial, pre-consumer and post-consumer level.
