The Resource is a web app that allows, after entering the details of cultivation (type of crop, agricultural operations, amount of fertilizers and pesticides…), to calculate the carbon footprint of crops. The solution is designed for two types of users: farmers and food operators.

For the former, the calculation of the carbon footprint can be useful to better understand which stages of cultivation contribute to the final impact, and for the identification of cultivation solutions that increase sustainability through the adoption of regenerative farming practices and the reduction of inputs (fertilizers, pesticides). It could also be useful to get in touch with markets that focus on product sustainability.

For agri-food companies, the solution will allow them to trace the impact of their raw materials, allowing them to calculate and communicate the footprint of their products, to define reference targets, and to drive change towards more sustainable production across its supply chain. It coluld be useful to build strategic partnerships within supply chain that focus on sustainability, and to reach new market segments among consumers aware of issues of food sustainability.

The application can work both as autonomous software and be integrated into existing agricultural management platforms; the latter solution would allow to use the crop data already entered by farmers within the same platforms, simplifying the calculation of the carbon footprint.
