CO2Path is a software platform developed to enable dependable measurement and reporting of carbon emissions generated by logistics transport chains.

The platform was created to help logistics professionals understand the volume of their Greenhouse Gas emissions, where they are coming from, and what they can do to reduce them, by offering insights that professionals currently cannot get anywhere else. The know-how and technology behind the platform are the results of extensive research & development work in energy data management and emissions monitoring carried out inside Ideas Forward, a technology venture studio based in Thessaloniki, Greece.

CO2Path team members have previous experience as engineers and consultants for organizations like the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, DG CLIMA, European Environment Agency, the International Council on Clean Transportation, and other organizations working on value chain decarbonization, climate action and logistics optimization.

The lack of primary data sharing is recognized by both industry and policy-makers as today’s #1 challenge for freight emissions quantification and reduction. Finding innovative ways to let the data flow from carriers to forwarders and shippers is the key factor affecting the transparency, accuracy and trustworthiness of carbon footprint claims.

The transport service industry is dominated by small and micro businesses that are operating in a highly commoditized market with low profit margins. Being under-resourced, they struggle to invest in complex greenhouse gas emission calculation methodologies and reporting standards. CO2Path makes it easier for them to be part of the solution by removing friction from the process of collecting and reporting primary data. This in turn enables emissions to be calculated in a reliable way.
