Agrolinera

Agrolinera

This innovator got selected for Phase 2!

Solution Name: Cabrales Project

Target Challenge: Producing a solution for the organic waste valorization.

Digitalization of the cheese whey collection process to enable its progressive valorization through protein recovery.

Solution Description

Agrolinera develops automated collection systems that enable the collection of the cheese whey from small individual artisans. This system introduces traceability, measures the whey parameters and keeps it under controlled conditions until it accumulates enough volume to make its logistics efficient. In this way the whey can be efficiently valorized in a centralized treatment point.

This project will deploy a system prototype in Tielve, home a small community of about 10 artisan cheesemakers under the Cabrales PDO.

Agrolinera will train the users during the adoption, coordinate the whey logistics to a treatment point and research the modifications needed in the process and the equipment to achieve the maximum value from this waste.

Agrolinera will use this pilot to measure the social and environmental benefits of this system in the community and the National Park it is based on. In this way we expect to expand its adoption to other traditional dairy communities located in environmentally sensitive areas.
